With eight minutes left to go in their match with the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons Thursday night, the Trigg County Lady Wildcats looked to be in deep trouble. Behind five goals from Anna Allen, the Lady Falcons had a 6-3 lead and all of the momentum to close out the match was flowing in their direction.
Then everything turned, and the Lady Wildcats found an “overdrive” gear. Despite missing leading scorer Lania Hite, Trigg County scored three times in a seven-minute span and had a couple of good looks at a winning goal in the final sixty seconds as the Lady Wildcats rallied to pull out a 6-6 draw with the Lady Falcons at the Trigg County Recreation complex.
The Lady Wildcats’ furious finish overcame a superb performance from Allen, who scored the first two goals of the match to give Fort Campbell a 2-0 lead just ten minutes in.
Trigg’s Olivia Noffsinger scored to cut the lead to 2-1 just 1 ½ minutes later.
Allen scored at the 27:00 followed by her teammate Lily Marrou at the 29:00 and the Lady Falcons looked to be in full control as they took a 4-1 lead into the break.

Addison Humphries got Trigg started in the second half with a goal at 45:30 to trim the lead to 4-2.
Anna Allen got the momentum back for the Lady Falcons with her fourth goal of the night a few minutes later.
Fort Campbell would be called for a push in the penalty box not long after that. Leiah Hite converted the penalty kick and the Lady Wildcats were back within two at 5-3.
But back again came Anna Allen. Allen would make her third shot of the night from the edge of the box, and fifth goal overall to put the Lady Falcons seemingly in front comfortably 6-3 as the match entered the final minutes. Seemingly comfortable.
At 72:20, Olivia Noffsinger dashed and weaved like a football running back going down the field and found the back of the net to make it 6-4. Less than two minutes later, Leiah Hite found the net from long range to cut the lead to 6-5. And, at that point, you could feel the flow of the game-changing and it became a matter of did the Lady Wildcats simply have enough time.
With about a minute to go, Maggie Wolfe got one past the goalie from distance to even the match at 6-6.
Trigg County would get a couple of chances in the final 60 seconds to pull out a win, but could not get just one score before the clock ran out.
The draw puts Trigg County at 10-2-1 on the season. The Lady Wildcats will host Hopkinsville on Monday.
Fort Campbell drops to 6-6-2. They travel to the Stadium of Champions Monday for a huge district match against Christian County.
