
It was a tough night for Caldwell County to be missing two starting guards.
Hopkinsville pressed its way to a 54-25 lead at halftime on the way to a 100-44 triumph Tuesday night in Princeton.
The game was tied 4-4 early before a 10-0 run put Hoptown in front to stay.
The orange-and-black Tigers led 26-11 after one quarter and extended the margin to 29 points at halftime.
Hopkinsville (1-1) reached the 35-point mercy rule for a running clock in the third quarter. The margin was 92-39 entering the final frame.
Antonio Williams had 25 points to pace Hoptown while DeTravious Leavell added 20 points.
Jacob Gavin scored 14 points and Isaiah Manning had 12.
Hoptown hit the century mark for the first time since a 101-44 win over Fort Campbell on Jan. 5, 2018.
It is the first time Caldwell has given up 100 points in almost 18 years.
Hopkinsville has now taken 19 straight games from Caldwell going back to 2008. Hoptown leads the all-time series 75-26.
Caldwell got 14 points apiece from Collin Whittington and Jaydarius Wilson. Carter Whittington and Zavy Bumphus both sat out the contest.
The blue-and-gold Tigers play at home again on Thursday against 4th Region school Todd County Central.
Hopkinsville also faces a 4th Region opponent in its next game, hosting Bowling Green on Friday.
