Guess Tops 2,000 Points as Lady Rockets Win at Caldwell

Crittenden County senior Taylor Guess entered rare air in the 5th District Tuesday night.

Guess scored a game-high 26 points to power the Lady Rockets to a 60-41 triumph at Caldwell County.

That pushes her over 2,000 career points — making her just the sixth female in district history to score that many points.

Now with 2,002 points, Guess is fifth on the district’s all-time scoring list, one point ahead of former Caldwell standout Abbey Benton. (Caldwell was a member of the 5th District prior to 2006.)

Lyon County’s Saundra Oliver holds the 5th District girls’ scoring record with 2,351 points from 1975-81.

Crittenden (3-1) scored the first 13 points of the night on the way to building an 18-2 lead early in the second quarter.

It was 35-10 at halftime.

Guess had 15 points at the break, setting the stage for her to reach 2,000 career points in the third quarter. A 3-pointer with 1:30 left in the stanza got the Lady Rocket guard to the milestone.

Caldwell (1-3) actually outscored Crittenden 31-25 in the second half, but couldn’t overcome the slow start.

Med Thomas topped the Lady Tigers with 17 points.

Caldwell’s girls next host Dawson Springs for 7th District action on Friday.

Crittenden visits Lyon County for 5th District action on Friday.
