
The Caldwell County Lady Tigers dominated play for almost all of 80 minutes while shutting out Webster County in their season opener Tuesday night.
Caldwell outshot Webster 41-1 while claiming a 7-0 decision at Butler Stadium in Princeton.
Keegan Miller scored four goals and had two assists as the Lady Tigers improved to 18-0 all-time against the Lady Trojans.
Mariah Merritt had two goals while Aliya Towns had a goal and two helpers.
Miller got the scoring started less than 2 minutes into the contest.
She then assisted on Merritt’s first goal in the 7th minute to make it 2-0.
Merritt got her second goal in the 27th minute, lifting a shot over the keeper from the right side to help stake Caldwell to a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Miller scored with help from Towns in the 53rd minute.
Miller scored again in the 55th minute to extend the margin to 5-0 and the Lady Tigers were well on their way to a season-opening win. Towns again picked up an assist on the play.
Towns scored in the 74th minute, using an assist from Miller off a corner kick, to make it 6-0.
Miller found the net one more time just prior to the game-ending whistle to push the final margin to 7-0. Her final tally came from just outside the penalty box.
Webster’s one shot in the contest came from long range in the first half — and was handled by Caldwell keeper Lainey Beshear.
Davanne McLean recorded 23 saves for the Lady Trojans, who are 0-2 this season.
Caldwell’s girls will return to action on Thursday with a trip to Trigg County.
