The Henderson County Lady Colonels hit the Lyon County Lady Lyons with a 3-point barrage to open the game and that was all they would need in a 66-49 win. The Lady Colonels have now won 18 straight games against 2nd Region competition. Their last loss in the region was December 7, 2023, when they lost in overtime at Christian County.
Henderson opened the game against Lyon County Saturday knocking down five 3-pointers in the first eight minutes as the Lady Colonels jumped out to a 24-11 lead. Brooklyn Gibson made three of the five.
Lyon County slowed down the Henderson offense in the second quarter but could not cut into the lead as the Lady Colonels took a 33-18 lead into the half.
Trinity Taylor and Piper Cotham each scored 7 points in the third quarter as the Lyon Lyons got their offense clicking. But again, they could not chew into the lead as Henderson took a 53-40 lead into the fourth quarter.
ATylia Green closed out strong for Henderson County, scoring 9 points over the final 8 minutes, helping the Lady Colonels to close out the 17-point win.
Trinity Taylor led the Lady Lyons with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Piper Cotham added 12 points. Courtney Collins finished the game with 9 points and 9 rebounds.
For Henderson County, Allyson Rideout scored 18 points. ATylia Green ended her night with 17 points. Brooklyn Gibson also reached double figures with 15 points.
Lyon County falls to 16-7 and has lost 6 of the last 8 games. The Lady Lyons will look to get back on track Tuesday at Carlisle County.
