
The Christian County softball team built some momentum ahead of Monday’s season-opener with an 11-6 scrimmage victory on Tuesday over visiting Todd County Central.
The Lady Colonels broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the bottom of the third, including an RBI single by Chloe Almy and Alondra Rodriquez’s run-scoring double.
Audrey Perone singled in the Lady Rebels’ second run in the fourth to cut the margin to one before four runs in the bottom of the frame put the Lady Colonels in front 7-2. Alison Grant had an RBI single, and Almy drove in a pair with a two-out base hit.
Jazmira Tejada’s RBI double highlighted Christian County’s two-run fifth, and Jada Miller singled to score a run in the sixth for an 11-3 advantage. RBI singles by Olivia Weikel and Dakotah Gammon helped Todd Central push three runs across in the bottom of the seventh before a strikeout ended the game.
Haley Petterson started in the circle for the Lady Colonels, allowing two earned runs on five hits with a walk and four strikeouts. Adcock worked the final three frames, surrendering four runs, two earned, on four hits with three walks and a strikeout.
Weikel started and lasted three innings for the Lady Rebels, giving up three earned runs on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Addison Woodall went the last inning and two-thirds, allowing seven runs, six earned, on four hits with four strikeouts and five walks.
Woodall finished 3/3 with two doubles at the plate. Weikel and Gammon each had two hits and an RBI, and Perone drove in a run.
Todd County Central will travel to Hopkins County Central in Monday’s opener.
Christian County will be at home against 8th-district rivals Fort Campbell.
