Trigg County has turned to a former player to lead its golf programs.

Ashley Hensley Stinnett was named the boys’ and girls’ golf coach, replacing Doug Hargrove, who will remain with the program as a volunteer assistant coach.

The Trigg County Athletics Department made the announcement last month on its social media page.

Stinnett played for Trigg County in the late 1990s and was a member of the 1999 team that won the region title – still the school’s only region golf title in program history. That team was inducted into the Trigg County Athletic Hall of Fame earlier this year.

She finished third at the region tournament in 1997, followed by a sixth-place finish in 1998 and a fifth-place finish in 1999. She played in three state tournaments, twice finishing in 51st place.

Stinnett takes over a program that competes for both the Class 2A Sectional title and KHSAA Region 1 crown each year.
