
Hoptown left-hander Owen Boswell did not allow a base hit while pitching the Hoppers past the Madisonville Miners Tuesday night in Ohio Valley League baseball action.
Boswell struck out nine while no-hitting the Miners through 5.2 innings before the game was called early because of severe weather.
The contest at Elmer Kelley Stadium in Madisonville featured two lightning delays before finally being stopped in the bottom of the sixth inning with Hoptown holding a 6-0 advantage.
Konner Scheidt added a first-inning home run for the Hoppers who improved to 15-20 with three games left in the regular season.
Madisonville is now 11-24 and locked into the No. 6 seed for the upcoming playoffs.
Full Count leads the league at 23-12 while Paducah is 2.5 games back at 20-14. The top two teams will receive a first-round bye in the playoffs.
Henderson and Fulton appear to be battling for the No. 3 seed. The Flash is 17-16 while the Railroaders are 17-17.
Hoptown is fifth, 2.5 games behind Fulton and 3 games in back of Henderson as the teams jockey for playoff positioning down the stretch.
The Hoppers jumped on Madisonville for two first-inning runs on Tuesday. Another run in the third and three more in the fifth were more than enough support for Boswell.
Boswell walked three while improving to 3-2 in the summer league.
Owen Hutcheson was 2-for-2 at the plate with a pair of runs batted in for the Hoppers.
Hoptown will next host the Full Count Rhythm on Wednesday while Madisonville visits Fulton.
