UHA Plays The Part of District Favorite in 8-0 Tourney Win

University Heights Academy came into Monday’s 8th District Girls Soccer Tournament semifinals as the No. 1 team in the region in the KHSAA RPI, and the Lady Blazers played the part in an 8-0 win over Christian County.

Kendall Hancock scored four goals in 11 minutes to stake the Lady Blazers to a 4-0 lead. Skyler Cantrell, Ajae Oatts, and Kate Adams provided the assists.

Maggie Mohon scored off an assist from Cantrell in the 23rd minute, and Kate Lynn Gibson scored her second goal of the season inside the final minute of the first half.

UHA ended the match via the mercy rule with 24 minutes left with a pair of goals 28 seconds apart. Audrey Perry ripped home her tenth goal of the season from 30 yards out, and Hancock fed Adams with a pass, with Adams ending the match with her second goal of the season.

UHA outshot Christian County 31-1, with Lady Colonel goalie NeZiyah Bell making 14 saves – right at her season average.

Lady Blazer goalie Madison Williams saved her only shot as she and the UHA defense notched their ninth clean sheet of the season.

The Lady Blazers improved to 15-2-1 with their 23rd straight win over Christian County dating back to 2012. UHA will play Fort Campbell in the district championship on Wednesday at 6:00 outside of the Stadium of Champions.

For Christian County (5-14-1), Monday marked the final match of the girls’ soccer program, as the school will combine with Hopkinsville High next fall.
