Henry Bullard’s two-run double with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th inning carried the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors to a 5-4 comeback win over the Webster County Trojans Saturday afternoon in Hopkinsville.
HCA entered the final at-bat trailing 4-3. Collin Outland was hit by a pitch to start the inning. Caden Gresham reached on an error as Outland advanced to third. Tycen Wells drew a walk to load the bases with no outs and set the stage for Bullard’s game-winner.
Webster County had taken the early lead in the game with single runs in the top of the first and the top of the second.
HCA responded with a run in the bottom of the second and another in the bottom of the third to even the score at 2-2.
The Warriors took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the 5th inning on an RBI single from Preston Haddock.
Back-to-back HCA errors allowed Webster County to go back into the lead with two runs in the top of the 6th inning, setting the tables for the exciting finish.
In addition to the game winner, Henry Bullard was 2-3 with a double, three RBIs, and a run scored. Preston Haddock ended up 2-3 with an RBI.
Caden Hale went the distance for HCA on the mound. He gave up four runs, only one of them earned, on four hits, striking out two and walking one.
Heritage Christian (1-1) will be back in action Thursday on the road at Livingston Central.
