Lyon County Competes at Muhlenberg County Track Invitational

The Lyon County track and field team continues to gain experience and brought home some top finishes at the Muhlenberg County Invitational on Saturday.

Boys

Lyon County’s boys were led by Ethan Gossard, who finished 13th in the 800-meter run in a season-best 2:27.00 and added a 10th-place finish in the 3200 meters in 13:07.53.

Jeremy Patton competed in three individual events for the Lyons and recorded personal-best efforts in two. Patton finished 21st in the 100 meters in 14.21, 20th in the 200 meters in a personal-best 30.25, and placed 15th in the 400 meters in 1:10.24.

Sean Weatherspoon ran in a pair of distance events, finishing 20th in the 800 meters in 3:06.79 and 24th in the 1600 meters in 6:51.22.

Jacob Townsend finished 21st in the 800 meters in a personal-best 3:29.69, placed 23rd in the discus with a throw of 23-7, and was 23rd in the varsity shot put at 18-11.25.

In the relay events, Lyon County’s boys 3200-meter relay team finished eighth in a season-best 11:54.39. That team included Ethan Gossard, Sean Witherspoon, Jacob Townsend, and Jeremy Patton.

Girls

Olivia Poague represented Lyon County for the ladies and turned in a pair of personal-best efforts in the sprints. Poague finished 18th in the 200 meters in 35.76 and placed 14th in the 400 meters in 1:27.94.

Unified Results

Joseph Kingston won the boys unified shot put with a first-place throw of 20-3.25.

The Lyons also captured first place in the mixed 4×75-meter unified relay, as the team of Joseph Kingston and Ethan Gossard posted a winning time of 26.74.
