A great way to celebrate Senior Night Thursday for the University Heights Academy Blazers. UHA rebounded from a tough loss to Marshall County by picking up their 23rd win of the season with an impressive 9-1 win over the Henderson County Colonels.
Trailing 1-0, UHA hung four runs on the board in the bottom of the fourth and then blew the game wide open with five more in the bottom of the sixth.
Senior Ryan Luckey pitched a complete game three-hitters to lead the Blazers to the victory.
The top of the Blazer lineup was more than the Colonels could handle. Cadence Gibson, Hayden Hunt, and A.J. Hogart, all had two hits for the night. Hunt had two doubles while Hogart had one of his own.
Hunt and Thomas Hallmark drove in two runs apiece for University Heights.
The Blazers took advantage of Henderson County struggles in the field, as the Colonels were charged with four miscues for the game.
UHA is now set to be on the road Friday, taking on Ryle in a game at Lexington Tates Creek.
