For the second time in the early part of this 2017-2018 basketball season, the Christian County Lady Colonels have had a winning streak stopped at four games. The latest coming on Saturday when they were upended by Dyersburg 56-52 at the Donnie Watkins Christmas Christmas Classic at Muhlenberg County. The Lady Colonels opened the season on a four game winning streak and then lost to Bullitt East.
Saturday, Christian County, behind the play of center Trinitee Jackson led Dyersburg after the first quarter 12-9. The Lady Colonels held the lead for much of the second quarter, only to see Dyersburg rally to take a 27-24 lead at the half.
The two teams went at it back and forth throughout the 3rd quarter. Dyersburg ended the quarter holding a three point lead at 37-34.
In the fourth quarter Dyersburg began the quarter trying to distance themselves from the Lady Colonels, leading by as many as 8 late in the contest. Christian County would close the gap down to 2 points in the final seconds, but Dyersburg was able to do enough to hold on for the win.
Christian County drops to 8-2 with the loss, and will get ready to return to action Thursday night when they host Union County.
