A day late, but not a dollar short as we get to the final edition of the YSE 2nd Region volleyball “Super 7” for the 2018 season. The postseason starts next week, and while the top of the list remains the same, there has been some shuffling in the order as we head into the final days of the season.

– Caldwell County (17-8) – The Lady Tigers have won 7 of their last 9, losing only to Apollo and Massac County on the road. Thursday night is the big one against Henderson County to determine who enters the postseason as the regional favorite.

– Henderson County (18-9) – The Lady Colonels have won 3 in a row. The match we have been looking towards all season long is coming up on the Lady Colonels home floor Thursday night.

– Madisonville (19-12) – The Lady Maroons have won 8 of their last 11 matches, and picked up a win over UHA on the Lady Blazers home court. This is starting to look like the darkhorse team in the region. The one that concerns you in a one and done setting.

– UHA (18-11) – Any result involving the top three team in the 8th District at this point would not surprise me. UHA has seen a few bumps in the road here late in the season, but they still have the potential to get hot and cause havoc.

– Christian County (11-15) – This was almost a 4-4A-4B ranking situation. The Lady Colonels have won 7 of their last 10. Being swept by Hopkinsville does give pause at this point. One of those two does not make it to the region as they match up in an 8th District semifinal.

– Hopkinsvillle (6-19) – Yes, I know their record is 6-19. But as one region coach said “lets not wake this team up coming down the stretch.” They swept Christian County and let Madisonville up off the mat. With their talent, do you really look forward to facing them?

– Crittenden County (20-3) – Hard to imagine a 20-3 team coming in at #7, but the schedule they have faced just leaves many concerns, not in the district, but when they get into regional play.
