Caldwell County Finishes Strong to Run Past Comets

The Caldwell County Tigers have extended their winning streak to five games in a row. Caldwell County went on the road Tuesday night and came away with a big 73-56 win over Carlisle County.

Behind the play of John Davis the Tigers were able to get to the early lead. Caldwell County led the Comets 19-16 after the opening quarter.

Carlisle County kept things tight in the second quarter. With Derrin Boyd knocking down a pair of threes, the Tigers were able to extend their lead to 33-29 going into the break.

Boyd then took over the game in the second half. Scoring 22 of his game high 30 points after the break. Still the Comets would not go quietly. Carlisle County was still within four points at 52-48 going into the final quarter.

Caldwell County then clamped the defense down tight on the Comets in the fourth. The Tigers held Carlisle County to just one field goal in the final quarter, as they outscored the Comets 21-8 to put the game away.

In addition to Derrin Boyd with 30 points, Caldwell County was led by John Davis with 15. Cayden Fraliex and Tripp Branch added seven points each.

The Tigers improve to 5-2 on the season. Caldwell County is back in action Thursday as they head off to the Limestone Bank Christmas Classic at Butler County High School.
