Rockets Beat Trigg in District Baseball Preview

Crittenden County scored in every inning but one to hand Trigg County a 9-3 loss in a battle of teams that will meet in Monday’s 5th District baseball semifinals.

The Rockets broke open a 2-2 game with a three-run fourth inning. Gabe Mott had a two-run triple in the inning and Maddux Carlson followed with a sacrifice fly for Crittenden County.

Trigg got a run back in the fifth inning, but Crittenden followed with a two-run double by Braxton Winders in the home half of the fifth inning.  A passed ball and a fielding error in the sixth scored two more runs.

Andrew Williamson’s RBI double in the third scored Trigg’s first run. Aaron DeSpain had an RBI hit in the fourth, and Isaac Peca added a sacrifice fly in the fifth to round out Trigg’s scoring.

Peca, DeSpain, and Tyler Ahart each had two hits for Trigg County, which finish with a district record of 1-5.  The Wildcats will be the No. 3 seed in Monday’s district tournament and face the two-seed Crittenden County.

Mott and Tyler Boone each had two hits for the Rockets with Trace Adams adding an RBI double.  Crittenden County reached the 20-win mark with the win.

Trigg County [11-15] closes out the regular season Thursday against Fort Campbell.
