
As Heritage Christian Academy makes the transition to KHSAA competition, the Warriors have beefed up its schedule for the 2021-22 basketball season.
Eleven players scored Monday as HCA opened the season with a 74-28 win over Valor Christian of Owensboro at Warrior Gym.
Heritage scored the first 13 points of the game as Valor had trouble penetrating the Warrior zone defense. Carlos Robles scored 16 of his game-high 20 points in the first quarter as Heritage led 23-4. Robles also had six steals in the quarter.
The Warriors extended the lead to 41-10 at halftime as they hit 17 of 28 from the field.
Coach Matt McGowan was able to run different lineups on the floor throughout the game as HCA forced 22 turnovers.
Landen Wells came off the bench to knock down a pair of 3-pointers and score 14 points. Trevor Gibson added six points and six rebounds.
The Warriors held a 27-18 advantage on the glass and only turned the ball over six times.
HCA is back on the court Tuesday at Clarksville Christian Academy.
