Jaylen Boyd Ends Prolific College Career in NAIA Semifinals

Former Caldwell County Tiger standout Jaylen Boyd saw his football playing career at Lindsey Wilson College come to an end on Saturday with a heartbreaking 34-28 loss to third-ranked Grand View (Iowa) in the NAIA national semifinals.

The Blue Raiders had a first-and-goal at the Grand View 7-yard line with just under 30 seconds to play, but could not punch the ball into the end zone.

Boyd ran for 114 yards and had a one-yard touchdown run in the contest.

Lindsey Wilson finishes the season 12-1. It had a 23-game winning streak snapped in the setback.

The Blue Raiders were ranked No. 1 this season after winning the NAIA national championship in the 2020 season which, because of COVID-19, was played in the spring of 2021.

Boyd ends his Lindsey Wilson playing days as the school’s all-time leading rusher with 3,658 yards. His 40 career rushing touchdowns and 15 100-yard rushing games are school records as well.

Boyd’s 1,217 yards this season were the most of his career. He also topped 1,000 yards as a sophomore, rushing for 1,119 yards in the 2019-20 season.

Boyd played in 47 games in his Blue Raiders career, earning 39 starts.

His stats also include 81 career receptions for 794 yards and six touchdowns.

Boyd returned 31 kickoffs for 892 yards and two more touchdowns.

At Caldwell, Boyd is second on the Tigers’ all-time rushing list with 5,451 yards. He owns the Tiger single-season rushing record with 2,041 yards in 2012.
