Wills’ Big Night Sends Warriors Past Northside Baptist

Heritage Christian senior Matt Wills poured in 13 4th-quarter points on the way to a game-high 24 to help the Warriors improve to 8-3 overall with a 61-45 victory over visiting Northside Baptist on Thursday.

HCA trailed by a point after the 1st quarter before Wills got going in the 2nd, posting 11 points to send the Warriors to a 25-20 lead at halftime.  Luke Chandler scored five points in each of the first two quarters to account for half of Northside’s total.

The teams combined for just 15 points in the 3rd quarter, with Carlos Robles scoring four for the Warriors, and HCA led 33-27 with a quarter to play.

The Warrior offense found another gear over the final eight minutes, with Wills knocking down three three-pointers to lead the charge.  Robles and Weston Powell combined for eight and HCA outscored Northside by 10, despite seven from the Royals’ Chandler and six for Nick Myskowski.

Powell joined Wills in double figures with 11 and also pulled down nine rebounds.  Zane Yates scored eight points and also had nine rebounds, and Triston Folz had four assists and six rebounds.
