Hopkins County Coroner Dennis Mayfield released the names of 13 people killed in Friday night’s tornado that leveled Dawson Springs and has left nearly 100 more unaccounted for.

Three of those killed are family members of Trigg County’s head basketball coaches.

69-year-old Jennifer Eckert was the mother of Trigg County boys’ head coach Chad Burgett. Eckert and her husband Jeff were killed in Friday night’s tornado in Dawson Springs.

Meanwhile, 86-year-old Ernie Akin lived not far from the Eckerts. He is the grandfather of Trigg County girls’ head coach Cory Coble. A social media photo showed Coble standing near some concrete where Akin’s house once stood. There wasn’t much left.

Trigg County is scheduled to travel to Lyon County Tuesday for a district doubleheader.

YourSportsEdge.com sends our condolences to Coach Burgett and Coach Coble and to the families of all of the victims of the weekend’s tornados.
