It would not have been surprising to see the Lyon County Lyons on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list after their game with Crittenden County Tuesday night in Eddyville. The Lyons had 17 steals, 11 of them in the first quarter as they rolled to a big 79-41 win over Rockets in a 5th District matchup.

Lyon County opened the game on a 12-0 with their thievery getting things started. On one back-to-back series, Travis Perry came up with a steal and a layup, stole the ball again and came up with an assist. The Lyon steals oftentimes led to a layup going the other way. After opening the quarter with the big run, the Lyons closed out the quarter with six straight to go up 30-8.

It was not just Perry involved in the defensive onslaught, as the entire starting five of Perry, Jackson Shoulders, Brady Shoulders, Luke Gilbert, and Jack Reddick all played roles in the ongoing “larceny.”

Things did not get much better for the Rockets in the second quarter. Lyon County opened with ten straight points to complete an overall 16-0 run, taking a 40-8 lead, prompting Crittenden County head coach Dennis Hodge to call his second timeout in an effort to slow down the avalanche his team was facing.

By the time the half rolled around, Lyon County had blown the lead out to 55-21.

Crittenden County scored five quick points to open the second half, but then the Lyons drove home the final nail, scoring 8 straight, to run the lead out to 63-26, and bring the running clock into play.

The Lyon County lead would be 69-28 as the third quarter came to an end.

Lyon County reserves saw extensive action in the final quarter as the Lyons coasted on out to the 79-41 win.

Travis Perry led the way for Lyon County with 20 points, 18 of them in the first half. Jackson Shoulders had 16. Brady Shoulders and Jack Reddick also reached double figures with 12 points each.

Trace Derrington was the only Rocket to hit double figures. He finished the game with 10 points.

Lyon County goes to 6-4 overall and 1-0 in district play.

The Rockets drop to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in the district.
