The Caldwell County Tigers have put an end to almost 64 years of losing streaks in the last week.
On Tuesday, the Tigers beat Christian County 64-50 for their first win over the Colonels since Feb. 9, 1988 — a string of 21 straight losses.
On Saturday, Caldwell faced Marshall County in the Western Kentucky Showcase at Crittenden County with a chance to end another long drought.
Jabrion Spikes scored 34 points and Caldwell overcame a four-point deficit in the fourth quarter to upend the Marshals 58-52.
Caldwell’s last win over Marshall had been a 95-86 victory behind a then-school record 47 points from Michael Fraliex on Feb. 27, 1992 — almost 30 years. The Marshals had taken 10 straight since then.
The Tigers, 8-3 this season, led most of the way against Marshall before seeing the 1st Region school battle back to take a 44-40 lead to the fourth quarter.
But Caldwell opened the final frame with a 10-0 run to regain the upper hand.

Spikes had a 7-0 run of his own during that spree. His 3-pointer tied the game at 44-44. He followed that with a layup following a steal, then scored on a drive to the basket.
Zavy Bumphus finished the run with a bucket inside off a Spikes assist to put Caldwell up 50-44.
Marshall (8-6) got back to within 50-47 on a Colby Schroader 3 from the top of the key with 2:40 remaining.
But Spikes was able to score again inside, then Dewey Riley got a bucket from in close to extend the margin to 54-47 with 1:28 left.
A steal and a layup by Wade Moore had Marshall within 56-50 with 29 seconds to go, but Caldwell was able to hang on for the six-point triumph.
Spikes, who is now averaging 29.5 points a game this season, was the only Tiger to score in double figures. He also had seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Moore led Marshall with 23 points. Schroader finished with 10 points.
Marshall still leads the all-time series 17-7.

Caldwell was originally slated to face Stewart County, Tenn., in the Western Kentucky Showcase. However, this week’s snow forced some late changes to the lineup.
Caldwell stays busy with a trip to Dawson Springs for a 7th District makeup date on Monday. The Tigers then travel to Livingston Central on Tuesday for a first round matchup with the Cardinals in the 2nd Region All A Classic.
