Caldwell County made quick work of Livingston Central Tuesday night in the first round of the boys’ 2nd Region All A Classic.

The Tigers ran out to a 14-4 lead just a couple of minutes into the contest and rolled to a 91-52 triumph in Smithland.

One night after setting a school record with 51 points at Dawson Springs, Jabrion Spikes hit for 32 against the Cardinals. He did not play in the fourth quarter after Caldwell took an 82-40 advantage to the final frame.

Dewey Riley added 14 points while Zavy Bumphus and Collin Whittington each scored 13 for the Tigers.

Caldwell built a 32-17 lead after one period and went to halftime with a 51-29 edge.

With 82 points through three quarters, the Tigers were within striking distance of hitting the century mark.

However, with the running clock mercy rule in effect, Caldwell only put up nine points in the final frame and finished with 91 points.

Caldwell has not reached 100 points since a 105-58 win over Dawson Springs on Feb. 12, 2007.

Max Downey scored 21 points for Livingston, which is now 2-9. Gavin Crass added 12.

Because of the running clock for much of the second half, the game took only right at an hour to complete.

Caldwell advances to the All A Classic regional semifinals, where it will face host University Heights Academy on Friday at 6:00 in Hopkinsville. The Blazers routed Dawson Springs 70-36 in opening round action on Tuesday.

UHA beat Caldwell 72-48 in the season opener in Princeton. However, Spikes did not play that night for the Tigers.

Caldwell is 10-3 and has won eight of its last nine games.

The Blazers are 6-7 but have won four of their last five contests.
