Colonel Wrestlers Finish Eighth at South Oldham

Christian County finished in eighth place in a loaded 23-team field at the South Oldham Dragon Wrestling Invitational Saturday.

The Colonels finished with 76 points. Oldham County took first place with 207.5 points, and St. Xavier was second with 176.5 points.

The Colonels had three wrestlers finish in the top three Saturday. JaRi Campbell, ranked fifth in the state, took first place in the 113-pound class with a 7-3 decision over 22nd ranked Bennie Britt of St. Xavier in the championship match.

Ashton Smith continued his strong start to the wrestling season. Smith, ranked 23rd in the state, finished second in the 106-pound class. He fell to ninth-ranked Colton Motta of South Oldham in the title match.

A.J. Harvey, who entered the day ranked 5th in the state, finished in third place in the 285-pound match. Both of Harvey’s losses came to Woodford County’s Luke Hill, who is ranked 12th in the class.

Omarion Wimberley won a pair of matches in the 190-pound class, and Mason Kellett won three matches in the 150-pound class.
