
A miserable night shooting against one of the 2nd Region’s best teams led to a lopsided loss for Caldwell County’s girls Monday night at Madisonville-North Hopkins.
The Lady Tigers made just two field goals in the first half as the Lady Maroons built a 25-7 lead at the break.
Madisonville went on to post a 67-28 triumph.
Caldwell, which had won three straight entering the contest, was held scoreless in the first quarter but trailed just 7-0 after 8 minutes.
But the Lady Maroons (13-4 overall, 3-0 district) began to get on track in the second period. Madisonville used an 18-7 advantage in the frame to build its 18-point halftime lead.
Caldwell (7-11, 1-2) mounted a little more offense in the third quarter, but Madisonville still took a 52-21 lead to the final frame.
The Lady Maroons led by as much as 41 points in the fourth quarter.
Emilee Hallum topped Madisonville with 18 points. Camryn LaGrange finished with 17.
Brylee Butts had seven points for Caldwell while Parris Gray had six.
Caldwell had originally been scheduled to go to Whitesville Trinity on Monday before having to cancel that date to reschedule the district contest at Madisonville.
The Lady Tigers are back in action on Tuesday when they host Crittenden County (14-3).
Meanwhile, Madisonville hosts McCracken County on Tuesday.
