A long dry spell in the middle of the game was just more than the Lyon County Lady Lyons could handle Tuesday night against Madisonville-North Hopkins. The Lady Maroons held the Lady Lyons to a single free throw over a ten-minute stretch of the 2nd and 3rd quarters as they rolled to the 64-34 win.
Late in the second quarter, Madisonville was leading Lyon County 30-23. Over the final moments of the first half and the entire run of the third quarter, the Lady Maroons outscored the Lady Lyons 18-1 to put the game away.
The game began as if it would go down to the wire. In the opening quarter, there were three ties and five lead changes. The quarter would end with the Lady Maroons up 19-18.

Through the play of Camryn LaGrange and Destiny Whitsell, Madisonville stepped up a level in the second quarter. The main part of the damage done by LaGrange and Whitsell was on the boards, especially on the offensive end. The duo kept possessions alive for the Lady Maroons and enabled them to get second and third opportunities, which in turn allowed Madisonville to pull out to an eleven-point lead at the half at 34-23.
The third quarter blitz from the Lady Maroons would then end any hope of a second-half rally. The only point in the quarter came on a Rose Smith free throw with 9.9 seconds to go.
Madisonville kept the pedal down in the fourth quarter and pulled on out to the final 30 point margin.

Calista Collins was the leading scorer for Lyon County with 9 points, all of them in the first half. Rose Smith added 8 points for the Lady Lyons.
Camryn LaGrange finished with 20 points for Madisonville. Destiny Whitsell added 16 points. Emilee Hallum also hit double figures with 14, including four made three-pointers.
The loss drops Lyon County to 12-11 on the season.
