The recent struggles for the Todd County Central Lady Rebels were put aside for a bit Saturday night, although it did not start off that way. The Lady Rebels overcame a scoreless first quarter at Russellville to come away with a nail-biting 46-44 win over the Lady Panthers. The win ended a five-game skid for the Lady Rebels and avenged a 20 point loss to Russellville earlier in the week in Elkton.

The game started off as if it were going to be another long night for the Lady Rebels. The Russellville defense pitched a shutout in the first quarter while the offense, led by LaReesha Cawthorn, ran out to an 11-0 lead. Cawthorn had six points in the quarter.

In the second quarter, it was the Lady Rebels’ turn, as they held Russellville to six points and battled back to cut the lead to 17-15 going into halftime. Lucy Chester led the Todd Central effort with six points in the quarter.

Coming out of the locker room, the two teams went toe-to-toe. Each team scored 13 sending Russellville into the final quarter with a tenuous two-point lead at 30-28.

The Lady Rebels would then complete the improbable rally from their brutal start and take the two-point win, a 22-point turnout from their performance against the Lady Panthers earlier in the week.

Abby Williams was the top scorer for Todd County Central with 14 points. Lucy Chester was also in double figures with 10.

Amiyah Collier finished with 15 points for Russellville. LaReesha Cawthorn added 14 points.

The win improves Todd County Central to 7-12 on the year. The Lady Rebels are set to get back to action Monday night when they host the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers.
