Warriors Fall to Galilean in First KCAA Setback (w/PHOTOS)

The state’s last two undefeated KCAA teams met in Hopkinsville on Wednesday, with visiting Galilean thumping hosts Heritage Christian Academy 62-40.

Ranked 1st and 2nd in the state, the Warriors and the Eagles figure to meet again at some point in the upcoming KCAA state tournament.

With Heritage Christian trailing 8-7 after Weston Powell scored down low, Galilean closed the 1st quarter on a 6-0 run to double-up the Warriors.

The Eagles continued to pull away in the 2nd behind six points for Seantino Clark, and his bucket in the final seconds of the 1st half gave Galilean a 33-17 advantage at the break.

Carlos Robles scored six points in the first two and a half minutes of the 3rd quarter, but Galilean got nine from Janard Fisher and held the ball for much of the time on the way to a 21-point cushion.

The Warriors trailed by as many as 28 over the final eight minutes, with Galilean’s Clark adding eight more points to his game-high 17.

In addition to Clark, the Eagles put four players in double figures.  Fisher finished with 16, and Dawkins and Vernon Stubbs each had 12.

Powell was the only Warrior to reach double figures with 13.
