The Lyon County Lady Lyons picked up their first win of the season in a sisterly fashion Tuesday night. Courtney Collins doubled with one out in the top of the 7th driving in the winning run, which happened to be her big sister Calista, as the Lady Lyons picked up a 5-4 road win at Muhlenberg County.

Calista Collins had led off the top of the 7th with a double setting up little sis’s heroics.

The win was a nice way for the Lady Lyons to rebound from a season-opening loss to Madisonville-North Hopkins on Monday night.

However, things did not start off promising for Lyon County. Macy Cotton drove in two runs with a double and Joshlynn Noe drove in another run with a double of her own to give the Lady Mustangs a 3-0 lead just one inning into the game.

Lyon County responded in their very next at-bat. After Lilly Perry and Courtney Collins led off the top of the 2nd inning with back-to-back singles, courtesy runner Bailey Breitrick scored on a ground out by Jenna Coursey. Emma West then drove in a run with a double to cut the lead to 3-2. Ryan Graham gave Lyon County the lead with a two-run single to make it 4-3 Lady Lyons.

The game stayed that way until Macy Cotton delivered an RBI double in the bottom of the 6th to tie the game at 4-4.

Courtney Collins had a big night for Lyon County, going 3-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Lilly Perry and Lauren Davis were each 2-4. Ryan Graham finished 2-3 with 2 RBIs.

In the circle, Lilly Perry went the distance, giving up four runs on six hits, striking out four and walking five.

With the win, the Lady Lyons improve to 1-1 on the season.
