The Todd County Central Rebels picked up a big win and then suffered their first loss of the season Saturday. The Rebels traveled to Bowling Green and knocked off Madisonville-North Hopkins 13-0 before dropping an 8-1 decision to Warren East.

The Rebels began the day with a huge first inning at the plate and a stellar performance on the mound from Jase Paul Hamptons. Todd Central put up 8 runs in the first inning and never looked back in routing the Maroons.

The first two batters for the Rebels gave a quick indication of what the game would be like. Devin Schutt led off the game with a double. Preston Rager then cleared the right field fence to give the Rebels a 2-0 lead before you could take a bite off your hot dog.

The next six Rebel batters reached base and by the time the carnage ended in the top of the first, Todd Central had buried the Maroons in an 8-0 hole.

The Rebels would add single runs in the second and third to run the lead out to 10-0. Three more runs in the top of the 5th ended the scoring for the game.

Devin Schutt was 3-4 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored. Preston Rager finished 3-4 with a home run, two RBIs, and a run scored. Will Kearns was 2-3 with an RBI.

Jase Paul Hampton went all five innings, giving up no runs on four hits, striking out seven while walking two.

The second game of the day did not go quite as well for the Rebels. Warren East pitching limited Todd Central to a single run as the Raiders claimed the 8-1 victory. The Rebels had entered the game averaging nearly 13 runs a contest.

The Raiders scored a run in the third and two more in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead.

Todd Central got an RBI single from Tanner Farmer in the top of the 6th to cut the lead to 3-1 but that would be the end of the offense for the game for the Rebels.

Warren East then sealed the win with five runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Raiders used five singles and a Rebel error to help close things out.

Preston Rager was 2-3 for the Rebels with a run scored. Tanner Farmer was 1-3 and drove in Todd Central’s only run.

Will Kearns took the loss for the Rebels on the mound. He went 3 1/3 innings, giving up three runs on four hits, striking out one, and walking one.

The Rebels are now 6-1 for the season and are back in action Tuesday when they host Russellville.
