Henderson County scored in every inning and hit three home runs in its 17-1 win at Lyon County Monday.  The Lady Colonels moved to 4-0 with the win.

Henderson scored two runs in the first inning and one more in the second before breaking the contest open with a seven-run third inning.

Taylor Troutman had a solo home run in the first inning, Julianna Hibbs led off the second inning with a homer, and JaMaya Byrum added a two-run shot in the fifth inning.

Byrum finished with four hits and three RBIs, while Troutman flipped that stat line for three hits and four runs knocked in. Kaytlan Kemp, Alyse Rollings, Hallie McCracken, and Hibbs each had two hits as part of the 17-hit Lady Colonel parade.

Lyon County’s lone run came in the third inning when Calista Collins walked and advanced to third on an infield single by Courtney Collins. When Courtney stole second, Calista scored on a throwing error. They, along with Lilly Perry, had Lyon County’s three hits — all singles off freshman Anna Kemp who struck out six and walked four while allowing no earned runs.

The 16-run loss is the worst for Lyon since an April 30, 2013 district loss to Livingston Central. However, that may say more about Henderson County, which has won 16 straight games against region competition, including last year’s region title.

Henderson County has outscored its opponents 49-6  in its four wins.

Lyon County dropped to 2-3, but that’s not new territory for the Lady Lyons who began the 2019 season 3-6 before advancing to the school’s first-ever softball region title game.

Lyon County will host Crittenden County Tuesday in its district opener.
