Rebels Drop Two Games in Fort Walton Beach

4-6-rager

Todd County Central stranded six runners in scoring position through six innings of its Wednesday game against Campbellsville.

They found a way to score them in the seventh inning but still suffered a 6-5 walk-off loss to the Eagles at the Fort Walton Beach Bash at Choctaw High School.

Unable to get the important hit, the Rebels fell behind 3-0 heading into their final at-bat.

Nate Reding led off the seventh inning with a single. Devin Schutt was hit by a pitch, and Preston Rager walked to load the bases. Tanner Farmer’s fielder’s choice scored Reding with the Rebels’ first run.

Jacob Brandon doubled to score Schutt and bring the Rebels to within 3-2.

Gavyn Nolan gave Todd Central its first lead of the game with a two-run triple. Nolan scored when he beat the throw home on an infield grounder.

Up 5-3, Todd Central could not handle its newfound prosperity. Two Eagle walks were mixed in with two outs. A short single to left field by Kace Eastridge loaded the bases.

A bases-loaded walk followed, and Weston Mattingly ended the game with a two-run double to right field to give Campbellsville the 6-5 win.

Reding and Will Kearns each had two hits for the Rebels, who tallied seven in the game.

Eastridge, an eighth-grader, had three hits and two RBIs for Campbellsville, the defending 20th District champions who improved to 10-4.

Todd Central followed the Campbellsville game with a 7-0 loss to Owensboro.

The Rebels managed just six hits. Devin Schutt had two hits, and Tanner Farmer and Gavyn Nolan each had doubles.

Owensboro scored four runs in the first inning and made it stand up to even its season record at 6-6.

Todd Central fell to 0-3 on its Florida trip and dropped to 7-5. They will play one more game Friday before returning to Kentucky.
