Missed Chances Hurt Lady Rebels in Final Florida Game

4-7-gammon

The Todd County Central Lady Rebels wrapped up its trip to Fort Walton Beach Thursday with an 8-2 loss to the best team they saw on the trip – unbeaten Oldham County.

Each team had eight hits in the contest, but the Lady Rebels stranded five runners in scoring position and had a sixth thrown out at the plate trying to score.

Down 6-0 after three innings, the Lady Rebels got on the board in the fourth inning with a pair of runs. Jocelyn Mock walked and moved to second on an Abby Williams bunt single. After a pop-out, Dakotah Gammon loaded the bases with a bloop single to left.

Her sister Naomi Gammon plated Todd’s first run with a single. A bases-loaded walk to Karli Herrera scored Todd’s second run.

Mock and Naomi Gammon both finished with two hits.  All eight Lady Rebel hits were singles off Oldham County pitcher Mak Grimes, who struck out eight and walked five to get the win.

Oldham County, the defending 29th District champions who advanced to last year’s 8th Region championship game, improved to 15-0.

Todd County returns to Kentucky with a record of 9-6 and will host district rival Logan County Tuesday.
