It got a little too close for comfort late in the game Friday night for the Lyon County Lady Lyons. Lyon County saw an 8-0 lead completely evaporate before they found a way to take down Hickman County 10-8 in extra innings on the road Friday night.

The Lady Lyons looked to have this one in hand as they were rolling along through most of the game.

Lyon County bolted out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. RBI singles from Lilly Perry and Emma West were the big hits in the inning.

Calista Collins extended the lead to 4-0 with a home run to center in the top of the second. Emma West left the yard with a three-run shot to center in the fifth as the lead grew to 7-0.

Courtney Collins drove in a run in the top of the 6th with a base hit, and it appeared that the game was just about over. Just about, but not quite.

Three singles and a Lyon County error in the bottom of the inning trimmed the lead to 8-3.

The Hickman County bats heated up and ripped off six hits in the bottom of the 7th as five runs scored to even things up at 8-8. Hickman had the winning run on third base but popped up to end the inning as the game headed off to the eighth.

After her home run earlier, Hickman County walked Calista Collins intentionally to open the inning. Hadlie Butler then singled to give the Lady Lyons runners on first and second. Collins would score on a dropped third strike and Butler would then come across on a sacrifice fly.

Hickman County would go quietly in the bottom of the 8th as the Lady Lyons held on to get the win.

Emma West led the Lady Lyons, going 3-4 with a home run and 5 RBIs. Calista Collins was 3-4 with a home run, an RBI, and four runs scored. Courtney Collins ended up 3-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

The Lady Lyons are set to return to action Monday when they host Livingston Central in a 5th District contest.
