Lyons Thump Livingston Central for Senior Night Victory (w/PHOTOS)

Jackson Shoulders celebrated Senior Night in Eddyville on Monday with his seventh home run of the season, and Lyon County powered past Livingston Central 12-1 to stay perfect in 5th-District play.

The Lyons improve to 19-4 and will look to finish 6-0 in regular-season district play when they travel to Trigg County on Tuesday.  Lyon County took the first meeting between the teams 11-0.

Shoulders’ solo shot put the Lyons in front in the bottom of the 1st, and they added a run when Peyton Williams came home on a passed ball in the 2nd.

The Lyons blew the game open in their third at-bat, beginning with Shoulders’ RBI double.  Austin Spears and Eli Baker drove in runs with singles, and senior Brody Williams got in on the festivities with a two-run double.  Shoulders capped a three-RBI night with a single, and a run came in on an error to make it 11-0.

Belt allowed a run on a pair of hits with two walks and five strikeouts.  Brody Williams came on and got the last two outs of the game.

Shoulders was 3/3 at the plate, Williams drove in a pair of runs, Gunnar Bingham had a hit and a run driven in, and fellow-senior Luke Gilbert was 1/2 with an RBI.

Spears was 2/2 with an RBI, and Baker had a hit and two runs driven in.

Aiden Fugate took the loss for Livingston Central, allowing 11 runs, 10 earned, on seven hits with six walks.  Carter Ray pitched the remainder, yielding a run on three hits with two strikeouts.

The Cardinals lose for the first time in three outings to slip to 8-13.  They welcome Dawson Springs to Smithland on Tuesday.
