McPherson in Lockdown Mode as Lady Rebels Walk-Off Against Butler

Todd County Central’s Abigail McPherson and Butler County’s Avery Gleason got involved in one of the best pitchers’ duels of the softball season in the area Friday night. Through six innings, each pitcher had allowed only two hits in a scoreless game, and something had to give.

It finally did for the Lady Rebels in the bottom of the seventh inning, and McPherson was involved in getting things started as Todd Central walked off the 1-0 win against Butler County.

With the game still locked up at 0-0, McPherson came up with a one-out single. She then advanced to second base on a wild pitch and moved over to third when Jocelyn Mock grounded out to short.

Karli Herrera laid down a bunt, but McPherson was unable to score on the play. However, Herrera was safe at first and managed to get all the way to second while the Lady Bears made sure they held McPherson at third base.

After fouling off the first pitch, Naomi Welborn sent everyone home happy with a single to center field sending Abby McPherson across the plate with the winning run.

McPherson, Mock, Herrera, and Welborn each had one hit for the Lady Rebels in the contest.

McPherson was spectacular in the circle, giving up just two hits in the game. She struck out 10 batters while walking only two.

The Lady Rebels improved to 15-11 with the win. They are set to be back in action Tuesday when they host Franklin-Simpson.
