After opening their season with a straight-set home win over Trigg County Monday night, the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers took to the road for the first time in the 2022 volleyball season Tuesday night for a match against the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons. The Lady Maroons are a team viewed by some as a team that might be able to contend for a regional championship.
The Lady Maroons looked the part Tuesday evening on their home floor as they rolled to a sweep of the Lady Tigers.
Madisonville opened quickly taking the first set 25-9. Not much changed in the second set as the Lady Maroons kept the pedal down, winning the set 25-11 to go up two sets to none.
Madisonville then closed out the match by winning the third set 25-12 giving them the straight-set victory.
Coach Laykin Peek noted the play of Allison Luttrull and I’Yanna Quarles, who each finished with four digs in the match for the Lady Tigers.
The Lady Maroons open the season at 1-0. They return to action Thursday on the road at Crittenden County.
Hoptown falls to 1-1 with the loss. The Lady Tigers are off until a week from Thursday when they will host Heritage Christian.
