Audrey Grise provided a pair of assists and the UHA girls’ soccer team held off a 2nd-half surge to top Fort Campbell 2-1 at Givens Field on Tuesday.

The Lady Blazers improve to 2-3-1, 1-0 in 8th-District play, ahead of a rematch with Caldwell County on Thursday.  The Lady Tigers took the first meeting 3-1 in Princeton.

University Heights was in control over the first twenty minutes on Tuesday, but the Lady Falcons had the first shot on target midway through the 1st half.

However, the Lady Blazers jumped in front a few minutes later when Audrey Perry finished off a pass from Grise.  UHA outshot the Lady Falcons 8-1 over the first forty minutes but couldn’t extend the lead.

Fort Campbell looked like a different team after the break, and the Lady Falcons were even inside the first five minutes when Charlize Cruz buried a shot to the top right corner of the goal.

UHA answered six minutes later on freshman Emma Dill’s first varsity strike.  Once again, Grise provided the pass, with Dill tapping in from close range on a ball across the face of the goal.

Lucy Wilkins made a trio of big saves to preserve the Lady Blazer advantage, including two one-on-one stops against Lady Falcon leading scorer Anna Allen.

Inside the final five minutes, UHA’s Grise sent a shot over from ten yards out, and Fort Campbell’s Cruz saw her bid to tie the game saved by Wilkins.

Wilkins finished with six saves to earn the win.  Emma Gray made eight stops for the Lady Falcons.

Fort Campbell is now 4-5 overall, 1-1 in district play, with Todd County Central scheduled to come to post on September 15.
