Coming off a bit of a tumultuous week, one could have understood if the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers had struggled a bit Monday evening in their district matchup against Christian County. However, Morgan Woosley and her Lady Tiger teammates saw that it did not happen that way.

Woosley’s hat trick led the way as Hopkinsville picked up a hard-fought 3-2 win over the Lady Colonels at the Stadium of Champions. The win came in the first game with Jeff Addison back on the sideline for Hoptown.

The Lady Colonels got out to the early lead on the evening. Alayah Lander broke clear on a run down the middle of the field and found the net at the 13:30 mark to Christian County up 1-0.

Morgan Woosley scored her first goal of the night at the 27:30 mark to even things up at 1-1.

Lander put Christian County back in the lead in the final two minutes of the opening half when she took a pass from Cayleigh Clay and put it into the back of the net, giving the Lady Colonels a 2-1 lead at the break.

The Lady Colonels were called for a foul just in front of the box at 51:40. Woosley took the ensuing direct kick and placed it just out of the reach of the Christian County goalie, tying the match at 2-2.

Just under seven minutes later, Morgan Woosley was able to survive a collision in the box just enough to get a shot off that found the net and gave Hoptown the lead for the first time at 3-2.

From there the Lady Tigers were able to keep Christian County away from the net, although the Colonels did get a couple of great looks from Alayah Lander coming down the stretch of the match.

The win improves Hopkinsville to 3-7-1 overall and 1-1 in 8th District play.

Christian County drops to 1-8-1 overall and 0-1 in the district.
