Lyon County spent 46 minutes erasing a 3-0 deficit.

Mayfield needed just 35 seconds to regain the lead.

Timothy Taylor had a hat trick as the Lyons rallied to knot the game at 3-3 in the 66th minute on Senior Night in Eddyville.

But Mayfield (7-10) answered quickly, with Pablo Sanchez heading home a corner kick, still in the 66th minute, to put the Cardinals back in front 4-3.

That’s where the game ended as the Cardinals held on Tuesday to beat Lyon for the second time in less than a week.

Sanchez finished with a hat trick in the one-goal decision.

Mayfield jumped on top quickly in the match, with Owen Byrd firing in a shot from the right side to the far post just 1:18 into the contest.

Sanchez scored in the 11th minute to make it 2-0, then connected on a long shot off the post in the 20th minute to extend the margin to 3-0.

But Taylor got Lyon on the scoreboard in the 26th minute with help from Walker Suitor to cut the gap to 3-1.

Taylor struck again in the 38th minute to pull the Lyons within 3-2 at the break.

Taylor then tied things at 3-3 off an assist from Suitor in the 66th minute.

But Lyon did not get to enjoy the comeback for long, with Sanchez answering with his third goal which proved to be the game-winner.

Mayfield outshot Lyon 26-22.

Jackson Crawford made 15 saves in the Lyon net.

The Lyons will finish the regular season on Thursday with a trip to Caldwell County.

Lyon will then travel to Trigg County for the 5th District championship match next Tuesday.
