
Pairings are now set for the boys’ 2nd Region soccer tournament which will be played next week at Henderson County. The draw was held by Zoom Friday morning.
The tournament will get underway Monday evening at 5:30. The first match Monday will have 6th District champion Henderson County taking on 7th District runner-up Hopkins Central. The two teams met during the opening week of the season with the Colonels taking a 5-0 win.
The second match Monday night will have 8th District champion University Heights Academy taking on 5th District runner-up Trigg County. The teams met September 19 at Trigg County, with the Blazers taking a 3-1 win.
The quarterfinal round resumes Tuesday evening at 5:30 pm when 5th District champion Lyon County squares off against 8th District runner-up Hopkinsville. The teams played September 24 in the Colonel Showcase with Hoptown taking a 10-3 win.
Tuesday night’s second match will have 7th District champion Madisonville-North Hopkins battling 6th District runner-up Webster County. The Maroons picked up an 11-1 win over the Trojans on September 20.
The semifinals will be played Wednesday evening at 5:30 and 7:30.
The championship will be played Thursday evening at Henderson County High School.
Admission to the matches will be $8.50 and will be available via Go Fan or by digital payment means at the gate.
Officials also set the locations for the next three regional tournaments. The 2023 tournament will be in Madisonville. The 2024 tournament would be at the Stadium of Champions. The tournament will return to Henderson in 2025.
