Three Madisonville-North Hopkins girls’ cross country runners were named to the All-Area 1 Team.
Joy Alexander was named to the Area 1 First Team and earned the Class 3A runner of the year title.
Alexander, a senior, had one win and five top-five finishes during the season. She came in 10th place at the region meet and ran 44 seconds faster at the state meet where she finished in 48th place.
Both Katie Gillette and Madisyn Johnson were named to the Area 1 First Team and Class 3A All-Area Team.
Johnson, a senior, saw her times improve by two minutes throughout the season. She had four top-five finishes and a second-place finish at the region meet which helped the Lady Maroons to a region runner-up finish. Johnson finished in 58th place at the Class 3A State Meet.
Gillette, a freshman, also saw a two-minute improvement throughout the year where she had four top-10 finishes. Gillette finished in fourth place at the region meet and was 81st at the Class 3A State Meet.
