The Todd County Central Lady Rebels are off to a 3-0 start for the first time in ten years. Led by a super effort from Alexis Taylor, Todd Central rolled past McLean County 64-43 Friday night in Calhoun.
The 3-0 start is the best since the 2012-2013 season, when the Lady Rebels opened 4-0 before losing to Warren Central.
Alexis Taylor was essentially unstoppable for the Lady Rebels Friday night. Taylor finished with 29 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, and one steal to lead the Todd Central effort.
The Lady Rebels got a big start from Abby Williams, who scored six points in the opening quarter as Todd Central took a 14-10 lead.
Todd Central then effectively put the game away in the second quarter. With the defense limiting the Lady Cougars to just three goals in the quarter, Alexis Taylor put up 14 on her own as the Lady Rebels pushed the lead out to 33-17 at the break.
The two teams played pretty even coming out of the locker room. The Lady Rebels nudged the lead out to 47-30 heading into the final eight minutes. From there, Todd Central was never threatened as the rolled on out to the final 21 point margin.
In addition to Alexis Taylor’s 29 points, Abby Williams hit for 11 points. Ciara Collins added eight for the Lady Rebels.
McLean County was led by Kashlynn Rice with 10 points.
Todd Central improves to 3-0 on the year. The Lady Rebels are back in action Saturday, taking on Clinton County in the State Farm 4th Region Challenge in Bowling Green.
McLean County falls to 0-2.
