It was all Blazers, all the time on Monday as the University Heights boys’ basketball team jumped on visiting Heritage Christian Academy from the first whistle and never let up in a 75-23 victory.

The Blazers bounced back from their first loss of the season to improve to 2-1 with a big test against Henderson County on Tuesday in Hopkinsville.

Lemar Northington II knocked down three three-pointers in the first three minutes of the game to lead the Blazers to an early 14-4 advantage and force a Warrior timeout.  Many Diaz scored four points inside for HCA, but UHA closed the quarter on a 9-2 run to lead 23-6.

Matthew Hauret came off the bench and drained a pair of threes to keep the Blazers rolling.  HCA’s Carlos Robles scored on the baseline and hit one of two free throws to close the half with UHA in control 38-15.

The Blazers didn’t miss a beat out of the halftime break, holding the Warriors scoreless in the third quarter and adding 23 points to the margin.  Gavin Grubbs scored seven, Northington II added five, and Kyler Baker and Quinton Quarles each chipped in four.

The Warriors never quit in the fourth quarter, with Robles scoring five to reach double figures with 11.  Tylin George scored four to become one of eleven Blazers in the scoring column.

HCA slipped to 1-4 against KHSAA teams and will return to the court on Friday to face Foundation Christian Academy.
