Kentucky basketball picked up their best win of the season over LSU on Tuesday night, winning 74-71 at Rupp Arena. The Wildcats were clicking from the field, from behind the arc and even from the free throw line. Their offense only had six turnovers and Kentucky out-rebounded the Tigers, 31-22, for their first win in Southeastern Conference play.

For the second consecutive game, Jacob Toppin (21) and Oscar Tshiebwe (19) combined for more than half of the team’s points. Other double-figure scorers who joined them were Cason Wallace (14) and Sahvir Wheeler (11).

Considering he’s coming off a knee surgery, Tshiebwe has been pretty consistent this season. Having Toppin also be aggressive on a regular basis will only benefit these Wildcats.

Their next test will be even larger, though, when they travel south to face No. 7 Alabama on Saturday. A win would be monumental for their resume and would continue to build their momentum as they tackle a tough January schedule.

Tip-off on Saturday is scheduled for 1 PM ET on ESPN.

  1. A win is a win, but this team still has unresolved issues. Calipari tends to make those issues get worse.
