Carlos Robles has etched his name into the Heritage Christian Academy record book for both single-game prowess and sustaining his success for a career.
The senior guard scored 44 points Friday to set the single-game record and become the school’s all-time leading scorer in helping the Warriors to a 75-17 win over KCAA for Grace Christian Academy.
Robles was 20-of-28 from the field and 4-of-7 at the free throw line. He hit a pair of free throws with 29 seconds left to pass Jon Fraley’s single-game mark of 42 points set in 2006. Fraley went on to a career at Austin Peay State University and earn a starter’s spot before playing overseas.
Robles also passed Alex Walker to become the school’s all-time leading scorer. Walker scored 1,478 points from 2009-13. Robles now sits at 1,488 points.
However, Robles wasn’t the only record-breaker Friday. Jason Leek dished out 12 assists, setting a new HCA mark. It was part of his stat line that included 10 points.
As for the game, Heritage Christian used a 26-3 start and never looked back, hitting 55-percent from the field while Grace Christian hit just 17-percent.
HCA travels to Bethel Christian Saturday as they look to remain unbeaten against KCAA region opposition.
