Perry Sets KHSAA 3-Point Record as Lyons Roll Crittenden 95-50

Another game and another record for Lyon County junior Travis Perry. On the night that Perry became the state’s all-time three-point scorer, the Lyon County Lyons picked up their fourth straight win and 18th win overall on the season Friday night. The Lyons scored the final 13 points of the opening quarter to blow open a briefly close game on their way to a big 95-50 5th District win over the Crittenden County Rockets in Eddyville.

Crittenden County came out and battled the Lyons early and trailed only 13-10 late in the first quarter. Then, the ‘Three Amigos’ got rolling and effectively put the game away early. The Lyons closed the first quarter with that 13-0 run to make it 26-10 heading into the second quarter.

Travis Perry, Jack Reddick, and Brady Shoulders continued to bring the roof down on the Rockets in the second quarter. Leading 36-22 midway through the quarter, the Lyons hit the Rockets with an 11-0 run to put the game out of reach with a 47-22 lead. The margin was 53-26 at the break.

The Lyons were clicking from outside, knocking down seven three-pointers in the first half. The only thing keeping the margin from being even bigger at the break was that Crittenden County was able to hit some shots from deep. The Rockets would end up with five made threes in the half, three coming from Travis Champion.

Perry, Reddick, and Shoulders combined to score 43 points in the opening half for Lyon County.

The Lyons came out and hit six more threes in the first five minutes of the third quarter to get the game to a running clock. Jack Reddick and Travis Perry made three each. The third quarter would end with the Lyons up 79-39. Perry hit five threes in the quarter, giving him 8 for the game at that point. The last of which made Perry Kentucky’s all-time leading three-point scorer with 464 made threes.

The quarter ended with the Lyons up 79-39.

With the running clock and subs entering the game early in the final quarter for both teams, the rest of the game played out quickly, getting to the final 45-point margin.

Travis Perry led the Lyons with 29 points. Jack Reddick added 24, while Brady Shoulders finished with 20 for Lyon County.

Travis Champion was the top scorer for the Rockets with 18 points. Preston Morgeson also hit double-figures with 16.

Lyon County improves to 18-5 with the win, while Crittenden County falls to 11-12.
