Free throws haven’t been a strength for the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors this season but they bucked that trend Friday in their 58-53 KCAA road win at Legacy Christian Academy.
HCA knocked down 14-of-19 free throws, including 8-of-12 in a decisive fourth quarter, while the hosts hit just 13-of-32.
The win wraps up the top seed for the Warriors in the KCAA Super Region to be played later this month at Oak Ridge Christian Academy.
The Warriors got a big boost from Landen Wells, who hit a pair of important 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and finished with 12 points for the game.
Carlos Robles led HCA with 23 points and seven rebounds, and Jason Leek added 17 points and eight rebounds.
Heritage Christian struggled to stop Legacy inside the arc. They hit 17-of-29 on two-point shots.
HCA held a 33-21 advantage on the glass.
Heritage Christian will host Oak Ridge Christian Saturday afternoon in a senior day doubleheader at Warrior Gym.
