Andrew Hendricks has qualified for wrestling state first round after a fourth place finish Saturday at the Region I Tournament at Christian County.

Hendricks won his opener against Christian County’s Xaveiyon Reid but dropped his second match to McCracken County’s Frankie Nutt.  Hendricks injured his knee in that match and had to forfeit the third place match to Daviess County’s Koyln Cruz.  He hopes to be ready to wrestle at Atherton High School Saturday.

Nate Schneider (190) and Anthony Hall (215) also represented Trigg County at the region tournament.

The KHSAA is using the state first round format for the third straight year. The top eight finishers in each weight class at the state first round will advance to a sixteen-person bracket for the state wrestling championships at George Rogers Clark High School on Feb. 24-25.
