With the Crittenden County Lady Rockets preparing for a 2nd-Region semifinal showdown with Hopkins County Central on Friday at Union County, senior Taylor Guess is putting the finishing touches on an incredible final campaign.

The Lady Rockets are 24-5 and collected their second straight 8th-District title with a win over Livingston Central last week.  Guess scored 31 against the Lady Cardinals and leads the team with almost 24 points per game while knocking down 39 three-pointers on nearly 46% shooting.  She is also tops on the squad with over nine rebounds per outing.

With 16 points against Carlisle County on January 28, Guess became the district’s all-time leading scorer on the girls’ side, passing Lyon County’s Saundra Oliver.  After scoring 25 in the Lady Rockets region quarterfinal victory over Hopkinsville on Monday, Guess now has 2,589 career points.

At the conclusion of the regular season, Guess was named Region Player of the Year by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches, earning an automatic invitation to try out for the Kentucky All-Star team that plays an annual home and home series with Indiana each summer.

In addition, Guess announced on Monday she will be continuing her academic and basketball careers at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, KY.  An NAIA school, the Lady Raiders’ season recently ended with a loss to Shawnee State University in the opening round of the Mid-South Conference.
